Often cited as the birth of the Philadelphia Sound, Spinners yielded five American top 100 hits, and two UK chart successes. For a group that had been around so long, a comeback like this was spectacular and off on a decade of hit-making.
Be transported back to the funky 'fros, starched collars and floor-grazing bell-bottoms in the company of legendary Philly RnB group The Spinners. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominated outfit rode high in the 60s and 70s with hits like I'll Always Love You and It's A Shame, and have slowed no signs of slowing down with constant touring over the decades.
Formed in 1954, many original members of the band have sadly passed away, but the spirit of The Spinners lives on in founding member and frontman Henry Fambrough. The new quintet combines tight vocal harmonies and roof-raising falsettos with an old school sense of showmanship, calling to mind the golden era of soul and Motown.
